This is especially important for the company's Fisher-Price and American Girl brands, which have been in the midst of their own transformations for several years. In just the last year, net global sales for American Girl were down 9%. When it comes to to the American Girl brand, Kreiz admits that the challenges "were not product driven," but rather an issue with its commercial strategy. "We're getting closer and closer," Watterson said of the certification work. However, delays in certification have forced Southwest to convert dozens of orders for 150-seater MAX 7 aircraft into the larger 175-seater MAX 8 variant. Both the MAX 7 and the largest model MAX 10 are waiting for the FAA's certification, with MAX 10 slated for its first delivery in 2024. CNN —The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expanding its infectious disease surveillance program at four major US airports to more than 30 pathogens, including flu, RSV and other respiratory viruses. The program currently operates Covid-19 surveillance at seven major international airports in the United States. The traveler surveillance program was introduced in 2021 when the CDC began collecting nasal swab samples from anonymous international travelers arriving at participating airports who volunteer to get swabbed. The program has collected samples from travelers from more than 135 countries and has sequenced more than 14,000 samples for further analysis. The wastewater program, which was introduced in August 2022, collects wastewater from a single plane using a custom-made collection device.

The Tacoma-based Point Defiance Zoo is conducting dental exams and teeth-cleaning in its managed care program. The fittingly named vet is helping bolster a population of only 270 red wolves known to exist, mostly in managed care or zoos. The animals in managed care tend to live longer than free-ranging red wolves, in part because they have annual exams and dental hygiene. The rare red wolves once ranged from New York to Texas, but by the late 1960s to 1970s a once thriving population was decimated. Three of those released came from the Point Defiance Zoo program, including a pup born April 13.

When pet parents need a little extra guidance, the best online veterinarians provide on-demand consultations with licensed veterinarians via phone, video, or chatWhile you should always contact your primary veterinarian or an emergency clinic if you have a concern about your pet's physical health or behavior, virtual vets can provide you with quick answers about non-emergency questions, consultations, or refills on medications. One of the biggest benefits of online pet care is its immediate availability. But they can be a good resource when you have questions about parasite prevention, grooming, the best dog food or the best cat food, exercise, and behavioral issues. Lippman says that while it shouldn't ever replace your pet's annual in-person check-up, it's a great way to supplement care. Some other benefits the best online veterinarians may offer include health libraries, at-home lab tests, and emergency veterinary funds.

Wrestling With Identity at the Edinburgh Festival
  + stars: | 2023-08-11 | by ( Houman Barekat | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
Questions of nationhood, identity and belonging loom large in three politically themed productions at this year’s Edinburgh International Festival. The tagline for this year’s edition is “community over chaos,” and there was plenty of both in “Thrown,” a National Theater of Scotland production running at the Traverse Theater through Aug. 27. When Imogen encourages Jo to take a greater interest in racial politics, this puts a strain on Jo and Chantelle’s friendship. Chantelle resents Imogen for boiling everything down to race and vents her frustration at being seen as privileged, simply because she is white. Helen provides moral support to Pam when she reveals her struggles with her gender identity and delivers the play’s defining monologue: a positive message of unity through celebrating difference.
